Trans-Africa Expedition Stage I (Spring 2001) traveled through Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania, Senegal, Mali, Niger, Benin, Togo and Ghana. The route included a side trip to Timbuktu and all told the total distance covered was nearly 8000 miles/12900 kilometres. Trans-Africa Expedition Stage II (Date TBD) begins in Ghana and will travel through Togo, Benin, Nigeria, Cameroon, Gabon, Republic of the Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Angola, Namibia and South Africa. Total distance is around 7000 miles/12000 kilometres.Trans-Africa Expedition Stage III (Date TBD) begins in CapeTown South Africa and will travel through Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique, Tanzania and Kenya. Total distance is around 8000 miles/12900 kilometres. *Due to continued political instability in the region Stage II has been postponed until further notice. Stage III will likely be run before Stage II. Stay tuned for further details and developments.
